Today it was my privilege to interview Ms. Shelle Michaels, National Communications Officer for Soldiers Angels. Soldiers Angels is a volunteer-led organization that counts hundreds of thousands of volunteers world-wide providing support, comfort and care for active duty servicemen and women and veterans.
With a motto “May No Soldier Go Unloved”, Soldiers Angels is most likely the best-loved support organization for our warriors in existence today and was founded a short eight years ago by Patty Patton Bader, a mother whose son had deployed to Iraq. A key program is Soldiers Angels Germany, where volunteers receive and distribute cards sent from the USA to wounded soldiers. SA Germany’s website is here.

GallantFew’s new program, First Saturdays kicks off the first Saturday in February. This no-host, free event is a 0800 1st Saturday of each month gathering at a local breakfast spot. Buy your own breakfast if you are hungy, come and network with other veterans. If there isn’t one in your area, start one.
GallantFew’s role remains that of providing veterans as mentors to new veterans leaving active duty, with a primary focus on US Army Rangers. I am honored and humbled to announce that 1SG (ret) Matt Eversmann, renowned for his role in the Battle of Mogadishu, has joined GallantFew’s mentor ranks. We are looking forward to his involvement and leadership!
Finally, I offer up a prayer for SGT Eric Nettleton and his family. SGT Nettleton was killed in action in Afghanistan yesterday. He is from my home town.
