I am William Powell’s daughter. I would love to share any information I have on my dad, as well as hear any stories regarding him. Thank You.
We would love to hear your stories, Meagan!
Col Powell was my Bat Cmdr at 2/75. He was an amazing human and the ultimate Ranger leader. Every morning he did a pull up for every year of his life. Every Monday morning was the Commander’s Run of 21 miles for any RANGER who was in garrison at Fort Lewis. Your Dad is still a legend to anyone who served with him.

Meagan,
I worked for Maj Powell and would love to share a few stories about him.
I am SSG Christopher Roulund’s sister and would love to help in any way. Please email me and I will let my family know so we can all help. Thank you for keeping everyone alive. RLTW

SFC JIMMIE D BYNUM SEPTEMBER 21 1981, Jimmie was my platoon Sergeant for a time in B 2/75. I do have photo’s of him in JOTC 1976. His “be a squad leader for a day”, is likely why I passed Ranger School with little RIP training with no recycles. In 1981 he visited me and other RI’s at Fort Benning just before he died at Indian Springs Nevada, good man. I went to Airborne School with A 2/75 Willie J. Cobb who drowned in during a training deployment while he was on R&R at a beach and have his photo from our graduating Class in 45th Company. We both interviewed to enter 2/75 with many other’s headed to 9th Division, who are retired Rangers, during a time of a lot of airborne status terminators about 40 per month and then another 100 during 2/75 first winter. I knew then Major William Powell and Lt Gardner. We the original members of 2/75 remember them all fondly, never forgotten! RLTW.
Jeff Palmer was a SGT, not LTC. He would’ve enjoyed that, though. James Cavaco was a CPL, not PFC. Kowalewski was a PFC, not a SGT. Joyce was also a SGT.
Thanks,
A B/3/75 alumnus
Thanks, Mark! We updated the ranks appropriately.
PVT Kevin E Langley Sep. 21 1981
Kevin was one of my greatest Friends. We rode Bulls together in HS and College, were roommates in college until he went into the Service. I was an Honorary pall bearer at his funeral. I will contact his mother and see what she can come up with. Are there any kind of commemorative coins or patches or anything we could purchase? Maybe that might be an idea for the future if not? Thank everyone for your Service and God Bless each and every one of you!

I am Jeanine Card; stationed at Hunter Army Airfield – 224th MI Bn (AE) – in 1984-1987. Francis J. Elder was my best friend. He was a true Christian, Soldier, and Friend. We attended the same church; special outreach for soldiers and their families. He was killed in a training accident September 12, 1985. I helped sort through his personal belongings, attended his Memorial Service, and had the added honor of attending the Opening Ceremony for the 1/75th Ranger Regiment’s Memorial, where he was honored again. I even met some of the other attendees who tried to save him! I still miss him, wonderful man. The Memorial is more than wonderful; such a beautiful place of reflection for all the Fallen Heros.
