On September 2, 2017, Ronel will run 17.6 miles through some of the steepest terrain in the United States while also ascending and descending from 7,000 feet up to 11,166 feet. He and a buddy with participate in The Rut at Big Sky Resort, Montana.
Last year Ronel Leffew bicycled a 1,000 miles from D.C. to his hometown of Sanford, FL in 9 days. This year brings on new challenges. Ronel has been retired for over a year now but is still deeply involved in wanting to help Veterans with transitioning from the military. Many of these young Americans have a very difficult time with leaving what they have known for the past 4 years to even someone like myself that retired with over 20 years.
These individuals are leaving their military family a bond forged through sweat, blood and tears. The anxiety, pressure and stress grow as time passes through transition and can continue well after leaving the service. Ronel wants to raise awareness to the struggles Veterans are facing from Transition that can help prevent suicides and help those that think there is no way. 22 Veterans committing suicide a day is too many.
